Tammy Doane was born and raised in the beautiful state of Montana.
Three years ago she moved back to her home state after living in New
Mexico for 15 years. After retiring from a 20 year career as a
hairstylist and business owner she decided to build a new career and
business out of her love and natural talents for quilting and textile
arts. At a very young age Tammy was introduced to sewing by both her
mother and grandmother. Around the age of 6 she received her very first
sewing machine and took her first quilting class several years later in
a 4-H class.
Throughout her career as a hairstylist, Tammy had the opportunity to
share her passion and knowledge of quilting with friends and family and
knew that one day she would enjoy teaching regularly. In 2008 Tammy
purchased a Gammill long arm with Statler Stitcher and began quilting
professionally. After moving back to Montana she had the opportunity to
meet Judy and instantly fell in love with Judy’s quilting designs and
techniques and began working toward her goal of becoming a Certified
Instructor for Judy.
Now that she has reached that goal she plans to incorporate her long
arm quilting business, Artistic Stitches, LLC, with a full schedule of
Judy Niemeyer classes. Tammy will be offering classes and trunk shows
in Judy’s own backyard as Judy has become increasingly busy with
national and international shows and classes. She is also available to
travel anywhere in the United States that may not be covered by another
With over 20 years of quilting experience and a passion to share her
knowledge and enthusiasm of Judy’s quilts, Tammy offers a classroom
setting that is enjoyed by both beginner and experienced quilters.
