America Reclaimed Batiks in Bloom ~ Cosmos #1402 Batiks in Bloom ~ Geranium #1401
The pattern America Reclaimed was designed by Cindi McCracken to feature Timeless Treasures Reclaimed West fabric line designed by Judy & Judel Niemeyer.  This pattern is not paper pieced, but uses traditional pieceing methods. A fun, easy design with the beginning quilter in mind!

Although the Cosmos was designed using Batik fabric scraps from a quilt, any lightweight woven fabric will work. Denim actually makes wonderful Cosmos as well. This pattern kit includes patterns and detailed instructions to create:

  • a single short stemmed bud through a long stemmed multi-bloomed Cosmos with leaves

Supply List for Blooms

The Geranium can be made for use in a variety of settings. for example, if you Geranium is being used in a wreath or swag, it is usually made using only the wires from the bud to form a short stem so the need for wrapping the stem with floral tape is eliminated. However, for bouquets, arrangements, a pot of Geraniums or a single bloom, a longer stem is necessary. Although there is a little added work involved, stemmed Geraniums feature leaves which are as showy as the bloom itself. This pattern contains patterns and detailed instructions to make

  • a bud (2 petals)
  • a single blossom (1-3 buds)
  • a sprig (4-9 buds)
  • full blooms with or without stems and leaves

Supply List for Blooms

  • Lightweight Woven Fabric - Although any woven fabric can be used, Batik is suggested as it resists fraying and comes in a vast assortment of patterns and colors. Up to five (or even more) colors make amazing Geranium Blooms. Please note each bud takes a 2" x 2" piece of fabric. An average bloom takes approximately 42 buds.

If making a bouquet of Iris or a pot of Iris, you will also need a container, floral foam or other filler to hold stems, and if making a pot a container of Spanish Moss.

The Ivy Vine is a great addition to your flower arrangements. Not only is it a filler for any arrangement, either in a bouquet, wreath or swag, it can be simple elegance when used with no other flowers. The Ivy Vine is easy to make and an ideal way to use a large variety of Batik fabric colors and designs. You can make short vines for wreaths and longer or branched vines for bouquets and swags.

SUPPLIES:

  • Fabric – You can use any number of lightweight woven fabrics for the Ivy. I always recommend batiks as they are so wonderful, both in fabric and color variation and they are sturdier against frayed edges. You can make all of your Ivy leaves out of the same fabric but variations in color and design make your creation much more interesting. If you are using 10” squares of fabric, each square will make two of each pattern or six leaves. If you are using 10” squares, each square will make six or leaves, two of each size.
  • 22 gauge Floral Wire
  • 20 gauge Floral Wire
  • Tacky Glue
  • Scissors
  • Wire Cutters
  • ½” Floral Tape
  • Floral Foam Block

Stormy Seas Table Runner Storybook Pastures Summer Solstice
Stormy Seas Table Runner was inspired by a past publication called A Touch of Spring, which is no longer available for purchase. The Table Runner used an updated layout of the blocks from A Touch of Spring, including only one column of the New York Beauty block and a scalloped, spikey border. The Table Runner was made using the Snowbird Collection, designed by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts and Moda. The cutting instructions are designed to use with both Yardage and also with Fat Quarters. A fun, fast, scrappy, and beautiful table runner design that gives you extra length and width to our typical table runners for large family gatherings, or possibly even a bed runner to a Twin Size Bed! We want to thank Laundry Basket Quilts and Moda for the fabric for this project, and also, Carrie Barone, for the custom quilting! The newsprint papers for this pattern have been updated to include directional Template Layout Sheets and a page of templates for the background pieces to be cut from the Newsprint.
